Limerick Institute of Technology in partnership with Limerick Chamber of Commerce has launched its Franchise Acceleration Start-up Training Programme (FAST). The programme includes a process to validate candidate suitability, participation in intensive training on all aspects of identifying and selecting a suitable Franchise and in developing, managing and successfully running a franchise business. The FAST Business Training Programme captures the criteria for what makes franchises successful and incorporates this discipline into a comprehensive accelerated 6 month training programme, creating franchisee-ready candidates with franchise opportunities clearly identified including a financial support structure.
After an initial profiling and validation period to access the candidate’s suitability for the franchising model, each candidate will participate in the following over an intensive 6 month period:
- Intense training on all aspects of running a business to include sales, marketing, finance etc.
- Comprehensive simulation activity in a franchise environment with particular emphasis on the unique elements of the following the franchisor model;
- Preparing and completing feasibility studies on an appropriate franchise;
- Participating in identifying suitable franchises and aligning their skill-sets to an appropriate franchise;
- Attending at franchise tradeshows;
- Preparing and having ownership of their own business plan to support a franchise start-up business;
- Training on reviewing contracts and negotiating best terms possible;
- Support from a mentor panel, direct negotiations with sources of funding.
- The expectation is that each successful candidate from the programme will have on graduation, identified and appropriate franchise, negotiated terms and conditions associated with the franchise, developed their own business plan negotiated sources of funding, found qualified premises, negotiated a lease and be positioned to launch their franchise business.
